Apparently the call to home is strong with them. A workmate, in a long and happy relationship with a Cumbrian girl, both living in Chester, was knocked headlong when one day and without warning she announced she was leaving him, sorry and all that, there's nobody else, love you to bits still, but I can't be away from Maryport a day longer - and she upped and went.
He was reeling for weeks, especially as his finances went right up the Swannee - but one of her rellies rang him and explained that Cumbrians do this sort of thing, and it's not Cumbria they can't be without, it's their own towns.
This may explain Holty's fambly moving away. Of course the relative may've just been trying to be comforting. Anyone heard anything similar?
