on the Friday after rush hour you will get a single for about ?15 with just a ?3 fee to upgrade to 1st class (well worth it for the free coffee, biscuits, fruit and wifi - and the fact you'll virtually have the carriage to yourself).

Also two singles will almost always work out cheaper than the return ticket.
