A) Holt's family genuinely didn't settle in the area and so they thought it better to move hundreds of miles away from him for a few years.
B) Holt was told the club would be open to offers for him so moved his family north in advance of a move. Also knowing that the club were after RVW so his chances would be limited.
C) Holt wanted to leave so moved his family hundreds of miles away to help force the club's hand so that he wouldn't have to put in a transfer request.
D) Last summer the club felt cornered into offering him a contract but they knew that they could easily off-load him this summer so the new contract didn't really matter much and it bought them a year to find a replacement.
