But if Hootun and McNally have another RvW type signing lined up to replace him then the other part of me sees it as a natural development of the squad.

Holty is the sort of player who wants to play. It was always obvious he was frustrated to start on the bench during Kamaras loan spell. If he has been told he is no longer first choice striker then its probably for the best that he moves on.
