Can't help thinking it would be a massive mistake to let him go. 8 goals last season was a decent return and more then many established prem strikers.

One of the main reasons though is his influence in the dressing room. With lots of new signings expected think Holt would be a key man in welcoming them etc. Interesting bit in Bellamy's book where he says that letting a 34 year old Gary Speed go for 750k was the beginning of the end for Sir Bobby Robson in terms of what was lost from the dressing room.
