Obviously if Ruddy went on to cement himself as No 1 he'd massively increase his wages and it would probably be a big jump anyway. Thing is, if he goes to be the No 2 at Chelsea would he ever get to go on to be the No 1 when he's not getting anything other than League Cup and early FA cup rounds or dead rubbers in the Champs League matches?
Could be a false economy... though I genuinely don't think he's a money money guy. He's got 10 years left of his career. Even is he's only on ?20k a week with us that's a million a year (half a mill after tax).
