very well. When living in Chengde my old haunts were San li tun/ workers stadium and Wangfujing. I'll now be living in Chaoyang and working in the CBD area which is just a stones throw from silk street, just as you were. China is always interesting to return to time and time again, even if you have only been away six months. Hope you get back sometime and it has not changed too much! Probably still a lot of the old laowai you used to hang out with are still around drinking in 'the Den.'
