Cambridgeshire police said Mr Broughall was given ?strong words of advice? about the dangers of driving his mobility scooter along the A14, which is a road with a speed limit of 70 miles per hour.

The father-of-two, who narrowly beat testicular cancer two years after he was diagnosed in 1985 and worked in bomb disposal in the Army serving in Northern Ireland, said: ?It is not illegal for me to drive along the A14 in my scooter. It is only illegal on motorways - I have checked.?
