the Daily Mail is obsessed with house values

Read any report on a headline news event, and 9 time out of 10 they will shoe-horn in how much the victim/offender/victim's aunt's gardener's house is worth.

I have no idea why they decide it's relevant to say how much the house of a murder victim is worth, but they often do. They loved the Joanna Yates murder as all the houses in Clifton (Bristol) have hefty price tags, and the bigger the price, the more prominently it features in their articles!
