however isn't part of the problem that once you are in the Premier League nearly everyone you play is a 'lower league' team so you have more chances of losing to one? I seem to recall as a kid (when we were in the top flight nearly all the time) we often seemed to lose to lower league teams (Bradford, Orient, Wigan etc). If we'd lost to Leicester one season earlier it wouldn't have counted as a loss to a lower league team.
