I hear that but why ?

There's no actual premise behind the middle lane argument ... Suggesting that it slows traffic is just mathematically incorrect because if you removed the inside lane the driver would say be sticking in the left hand lane of a dual carriageway.
With any lane free to the right would surely allow for any faster moving traffic to pass round it.
