no-one has settled for mediocrity

we all want to progress. But with our budget it is always going to be a struggle. Given that, we just don't think constant change at every setback on this long road is the answer. Given that our defence was (I think we all agreed) the weak point of last year's team Hughton made it his priority this season to strengthen the defence and I think we generally agree that his buys have been good ones.
He hasn't had the chance yet to get in the attacking players he'd like. Given his success with the defensive players I think he should be given the chance to do so.

There is nothing in his past managerial record to suggest he's a instinctively a defensive manager (I recall his Newcasle team beating a then-decent Villa team 6-0 in a prem game for instance) so I'd like to see him given a chance to implement his own attacking style with his own players before I'm prepared to make a judgement.
