Maybe Hughton was overly confident of staying up and was hoping to keep him safe for next season? that's another possibility.

I agree that it would be nice to be told, although I doubt the club will want the backlash from the fans IF he's being sold while we're scrapping for survival. I guess we should know by the summer...
