I reckon the board wanted rid

Lambert wanted a better deal and tried to use Villa interest as a bargaining tool. "If you don't give me what I want I'll f**k off to Villa" sort of stuff. To his, and especially to his management team's surprise, the board said "f**k off then" and then cried foul regarding the Villa interest.

PL is tactically naive and was out manoeuvred. I'm sure he expected to stay at NCFC but we had our eye on Hoots to stabilise the team this year.

I suspect c**tiness on all sides, but that's football for you.
