Surely it's safer to rely on a decent substitute keeper than risk Ruddy before he's fit? You can't really compare reserve games with the first team, there's none of the intensity or pressure. Anyway, I'm sure the management are making the decisions about Ruddy purely on the basis on form and fitness.
