Its crazy isn't it...
On this board so many of us rightly appalled by the loss and slaughter of wars and conflict around the world.
Multiply that by all the millions and millions of people, from all walks of life, all ages, all backgrounds, who feel exactly the same way. Same as all the countless hundreds of millions all over the world, all against war, conflict, violence, all for peace and some kind of respect and understanding between everyone, no matter who they are or where they live, their beliefs, culture, society.
One of the most common, dear, and sought after goals on the planet, a desire dearly and strongly wished by all those billions of people, demonstrated in little ways throughout history-the Christmas truce at the Somme, the students in Tianamann Square, the people who have fought injustice, poverty, racial hate, violence, all who have made their stand and an impression for doing so.
And yet, and yet, it goes on. Violence, conflict, wars and the losses of thousands of lives, year in, year out, unremitting, endless, seen as inevitable, driven by so few, resulting in the suffering of so many.
Could all of us who abhor and despise it so much ever rise up and speak to those who make war, could we ever say, collectively, "no, no more. Nowhere, ever" and bring a stop to it all. Could such a loud voice and massive 'army" make a difference? Could we all, really, if we really wanted to , and really made the effort put a stop to all of the terror? Could we?
I'd really like to think we all could. We, "ordinary" people-there are so many of us, and so few that see things the other way. I wish we could do it.
