It was that Stoke had been losing games left right and center to any half decent sides.

Sides that attacked them got wins. Villa bunged a load of forwards up because they knew there was no point playing a midfield against the hoofers, same for United.

They had lost 1 game, our loss against them didn't come into account BEFORE the game.
