They can - but that doesn't make it their main role

Not everyone can be a first choice starter. The role of some (most?) squad players will always essentially be as injury cover/substitutes.

No-one is sayiong those players can't 'do a job' for 90 minutes when required but we'd like to think that we can get better quality first choice starters.
