If it were Christmas time

with around 18 games played, and Hoots had won just one match in the season so far, I think it's fair to say that his job would be under threat.

Our record over the last 16 or whatever is quite similar to that and it's only because we're at the final stage of the season that change isn't seriously being discussed.

But it does make me wonder, if we failed to win again this season (and still stayed up), would McNally consider recruiting a new manager in advance of next season?

I wouldn't put it past him. He may be supportive at this stage but he's got a ruthless streak and won't fail to act if he doesn't have faith in the current regime.

I'd like nothing more than Hoots to turn things around but perhaps he's not as safe as some might think.
