Yet we didn't. To draw some kind of parallel: in 94/5, Liverpool won the League Cup. In April, Villa played them, and beat them. West Ham played them, and hammered them. And we played them... and lost to them, because we no longer had the quality to beat anyone not called Ipswich Town.

Now, in 2013, we might well no longer have the quality to beat anyone not called Reading - but even if we do beat them, will that be enough...?
