I have a massive soft spot for Lenora Critchlow.
I had problems with the other two, but I think I agree that Waldo was probably the weakest one. I was willing him on to get a sense of politics and tear into the other candidates - but no; dick jokes. I guess that was the point, though.
Even so, I'm not sure that quite that point needed to be made in quite that way. Not when the brilliant imagination that went into setting it up could have been built on to do greater things. Check me out advising a brilliant tv writer how to do his job.
The dead boyfriend one was good, but I sort of lost faith in it when his replicant got delivered in a box. I'm all up for willing suspension of belief, but for f**ks sake Charlie. I was with you with the whole recreating someone's psyche from their social media utterances thing, and then when the voice on the other end of the chat session said, "There's another level to this ... but it's expensive ..." I sat forward in my seat a little - very interesting Charlie, where are you going now? Oh for f**ks sake, you've invented a walking talking biorobot f**k toy for her and it's going to live in the loft. Seeya!
But that reservation notwithstanding, the portrayal of loss and the reminiscing over a past romance was really really well done. Incredibly well done.
