FAO T4J what version of Excel?
in 2010 excel* saves a back up copy of 'unsaved' files for a 'while'
just open the file you thought you'd saved then click 'File' in the top left and then look at the 'Versions' section in the Info tab
*might be in 2007 too, but i ent not never used that
