More seriously - you should be ok, since if the bank has paid out wrongly then they have broken the mandate you gave them (which was only to pay out on the genuine signature/genuine instructions). This is a fundamental part of the banker-client relationship and is very difficult for them to get out of, so unless there are some very odd circumstances it's the bank's fault for paying out in breach of mandate and you should be ok
Just kept saying to them "this payment was in breach of mandate"
