In the 'league' system 'points' are awarded to teams depending on the results they gain. 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and none if you lose.
These points accumulate over the 'season and teams are arranged in order of points achieved in a 'table', with the team with the most points at the top and the fewest at the bottom.
In situations where teams have the same points their league 'position' relative to the other team/teams on the same points is governed by 'goal difference'. This is the amount of goals scored less the number of goals conceded, a the team with the greatest 'goal difference' of the team/teams on the same numer of points will take the higher postion in the 'table.'
