generally speaking....

egyptians "like" British tourists in Sinai, we were the first to start going there, mainly for diving, now as a poular family holiday resort - and I think we contribute to something like 70% of their local economy. Brits are very well treated by the locals, who are friendly, lovely people. No doubt the government didnt want to rock the tourism boat - when Muarek was over thrown and western europe saw the riots and deaths on cairos streets, hundreds cancelled holidays to Sinai (sharm) not realising its the distance of london to scotland!! The danger is, radical tribesmen (who dont enjoy the benefit of the tourest dollar) now see this as a way of getting their people freed from jail, seeing as the government caved in.
