Yep, but he wouldn't go much for that.

It's a bit bizarre really, the war gave him an opportunity. He came pretty close to death at least twice, survived the war and stayed in the RAF for the next 25 years. If it hadn't been for the war he'd probably never got anywhere near being a pilot.
