If Bassong and Turner play against Man U then we can get a positive result (STAT ATTACK):

They have played as a defensive partnership 15 times in the league this season and have conceded just 12 goals, that means that they have conceded an average of just 0.8 goals per league game.

Without that partnership playing we have conceded 29 goals in just 12 league games, that's 2.42 (rounded to 2 d.p) goals per game.

They have managed to contribute to 7 clean sheets within those 15 games, that's a clean sheet every 2.14 (rounded to 2 d.p) games.

Without the partnership playing we have kept just 1 clean sheet in 12 league games which is basically similar to last season's league form of 3 clean sheets in 38 league games.

With those two playing we have only conceded more than 1 goal in 3 games out of 15 (once every 5 games), without them together we have conceded more than once in 5 games out of 12 (once every 2.4 games).

With the partnership playing we have picked up 22 points in 17 league games (1.29 points per game to two d.p), without it we have won just 10 points in 12 league games (0.83 to points per game to two d.p). With them playing together we win 0.46 extra points per game on average.

Other than making me believe that we have a real chance of getting a point at Old Trafford with these two playing these stats also suggest that we need to recruit far better reserve centre backs in the summer. Their construction also indicates that I need to stop procrastinating and get on my with my work.
