The importance of Bassong this season:

In the 22 league games that he has played we have conceded just 25 goals. That's an average of just 1.136 goals to one dp per game. I didn't include Newcastle away because he was taken off after ten minutes and we didn't concede in that time.

In the 4 league games that he hasn't played this season (including Newcastle away) we've conceeded 16 goals. That's an average of four goals per game.

He also one of only two players (Garrido being the other) to have featured in all eight of our league games where we kept a clean sheet.
