Tech advice needed

anybody who has had BT infinity installed can you confirm that CAT 5 cable is used from the master socket to the Router the engineer brings, and CAT 5 cable connects the Router to the Home hub 3 which is sent to you

If that makes sense and that no smell up the usb is needed
