I think we tried hard enough to be honest

Celtic just weren't going to sell unless we were going to bid over ?10m.

My problem with it all is that I think we could have found out early in January if Celtic weren't willing to sell (which they clearly weren't) and gone for other targets.

Hughton felt he needed another striker in addiction to Becchio and Kamara and didn't get one because we put all our eggs into one basket (imo!).

I still think for the money Celtic reportedly turned down from us for Hooper, we could have bought another forward who'd score goals at this level.
