trolls thrive on messageboards because -

They are weak and can hide behind a keyboard

It allows them time to consider responses and to formulate a reply, which they wouldn't have in a 'normal' conversation

They can invent fake usernames to back themselves up

Therefore, most trolls would not try it on in the real world (and would have to leave the house to do so anyway)
