band from New York who had their first CD out the following Monday.

They were called Nine Inch Nails and had there have been a roof it would have been blown right off. Fucking brilliant.

(Then we had to endure Skid Row and 3 hrs of Guns N Roses. The latter were great if you ignored Axel Rose's attempts at singing).
