Norwich City have started playing for draws and that really isn?t in the spirit of the Premier League.
They?re actually going into games hoping to draw their way to survival. The Canaries have yet to win a game in the Premier League this calendar year and I?m not surprised.
Check out their substitutions. During the goalless draw at home to Newcastle, Chris Hughton left on-loan striker Harry Kane on the bench, then complained: 'You have to score goals and we weren?t able to do that.'
He then described it as 'not a bad point'.
At Liverpool Norwich set out for a goalless draw but were 3-0 down before Hughton brought on a creative player in Wes Hoolahan. Two strikers stayed on the bench.
At home to Spurs, Hughton reacted to Gareth Bale?s 80th-minute equaliser by taking a flair player off, and bringing on a central midfielder.
Pacy striker Simeon Jackson stayed on the bench. At QPR new striker Luciano Becchio stayed on the bench until the 88th minute. Hughton said after the goalless draw at Loftus Road: 'Every point away from home in this division is a good point?we?ve played out two good draws.'
And at the weekend instead of going for it at home to Fulham, Becchio was taken off and the game finished goalless.
Playing for a draw might be appropriate in a certain situation during a game. Norwich may well survive but Premier League teams shouldn?t be setting out for draws from kick-off.
