Wigan have definitely slipped back since the reigns of Jewell and Bruce, which are much more recent, in a similar financial climate and thus easier to compare.

Martinez is no duffer - I just don't get why he is linked to big jobs. A step up would have been Villa. Talk of Chelsea? Purleeeease.
