Yep, I wondered that as well. A midfield minus Wes wouldn't work

Because Tettey and Johnson are too deep, and service takes too long with inverted wingers.

I can see some kind of 4 3 1 2 formation, with Holt and Wes behind Becchio, Pilks being the one dropped maybe? I think it'll take a lot to convince him we don't need two deep midfielders...
