I think he has the same problem as a lot of fans.

The real Norwich doesn't correspond with the one in his head; he can't reconcile the two, so he hates the 'impostor'. He therefore hopes Real NCFC will be destroyed, so that something closer to his fantasy club can be built from the wreckage.

We all feel a bit like this, but most of us realise that a successful football team will occasionally be rubbish, sometimes boring. & often let us down in some way.
Selwyn is just an extreme example of someone who expects his dreams to come true & cannot cope with the inevitable disappointments of reality.
