Hughton wanted a target, we needed a striker

Pussy footing around with 5m bids, then 6, then 6.5, then 7m, to a club that quite clearly wanted 8m, isn't really on

We did this around 2000 and it just got embarrassing

Not only that, managers panick bought afterwards and made themselves look very bad

The board have just put Hughton in that same position, and they'll be the first to fire and claim they supported him

I hope this doesn't become a 'new' theme, because it's how we ended up in league one
