Sporting Lisbon have confirmed the surprise return of 31-year-old striker Marius Niculae. The Romanian's return is likely to stoke the rumours that Ricky van Wolfswinkel could make a last-minute exit, with suitors including Norwich and Fiorentina hovering. Sporting would do business for the Dutchman at around the ?10m mark.

"Voetbal International suggests that Norwich have van Wolfswinkel's former Utrecht teammate Jacob Mulenga lined up as an alternative should Sporting not play ball. 28-year-old forward Mulenga's Zambia side exited the African Cup of Nations on Tuesday."
