I do

It really depends how into coffee you are as the sky's the limit in terms of price. I have a Gaggia Classic and a Mazzer Super Jolly, but it's only worth it if you're really passionate about getting it right. The grinder is weirdly much more important than the espresso machine.

You definitely want to grind your beans before each use as the large surface area of the ground beans means that they start to go stale almost immediately. I only pre-grind if I'm taking it into work etc and it's still a lot better than pre-bagged stuff. Grinding it fresh makes a huge difference.

You also want something with burrs as blades don't grind the coffee, they just chop it up. Something like this might be good for you: User Posted Link The Ibertital MC2 is also good, but you can't easy adjust the grind setting from coarse to fine and back again.
