if that is really the case, then yes, but...

there are a couple of other potential reasons of that statement.

1 that he hasn't been focused on transfer activity during match preparation, given this interview was immediately after the match

2 he doesn't want to publicly talk about exactly where we are with it, and that's one way of saying to the press 'this is all I'm saying on this player'.

3. a throw away way of saying we're waiting to hear back from sporting ie he doesn't know if the interest has been productive yet.
