... Directed 'Berlin, Symphony of a City' in 1927. Like Vertov's 'Man with a Movie Camera', but earlier. He ended up making films for the Nazis (the Weimar/Nazi film periods are really interesting - a lot of continuity, surprisingly) and died filming on the Western Front IIRC.
