What is the point of our club if we are never going to try and win the Cups?

What really is the point of it all? If one accepts (grudgingly) that a club like ours is never going to win the league due to the way football has evolved, then surely all we have left is to try and do as well as we can in the cups? I know staying in the premier league is important but if that is all our club can ever be about from hereon in then that's fundamentally depressing.

Swansea will win a cup this season. They deserve it. Their fans will remember that cup victory for years and years to come. They will certainly remember it more than they will remember the season they finished mid table in the premier league.

I think that's what I find so hard to take about how we approach the cups these days. A friend of mine said to me recently that our attitude to the cups almost renders our existence as a club meaningless and tonight I'm inclined to agree with him. I want to see my team in cup semi finals and finals at wembley. I can take or leave the premier league to be honest!
