Think people are being a bit harsh on Pilks

He did some very good things today. Unfortunately, however, his crossing let him down. The thing with Pilks is that he is inconsistent. He's a good player who on his day is very dangerous and who will weigh in with half a dozen goals and a fair few assists over the course of a season. At premier league level that's not to be sniffed at and there are not that many wingers at this level who deliver that sort of return.

He does, however, have games where he is very quiet and goes missing. As a consequence he was quite often subbed by Lambert or occasionally dropped. The problem this season is that when he's having one of his poor games he doesn't get taken off because Hoot just doesn't do subs. This is making his bad games more noticeable and I think encouraging fans to moan about him a bit more. Had Bennett been given a fairer crack of the whip not only might he have helped bring us a few more points but it may also have been beneficial to Pilks.
