I'm all for cases being investigated

And I also draw a distinction between different types of cases. Clearly, where offences are more serious (e.g. Paedophilia, rape, murder) then it's a different kettle of fish. my main point though was that in some cases (eg Starr, Lee Travis and Davidson) they are being arrested as part of (or their arrests are being presented) as part of the "Saville" investigation when the information released into the public domain thus far suggests that the offences are not comparable save that they involved celebrities. Their is also a difference between investigating someone and arresting them.

I guess it depends on your view of what is us the public interest for our police to spend their time on. I fear this is another "phone hacking" episode where the media furore over Saville is prompting them to throw huge resources at something with a consequential pressure to make arrests even though some if the offences appear (and yes I acknowledge we don't know all thd facts) to be relatively minor.

As they say the proof is in the pudding so it will be interested to see how many are charged or convicted and of what.
