I think the rule is the fk would be taken on the six-yard line. Sure I've seen one before.

But yes, the point is moot I suppose, as we'll never know. I can't see what else he's trying to do other than pass it back, but he disguises it with such a shockingly bad touch that we'll never find out for sure...
