why do good played have to cheat?

several times today the Man City players went down claiming injury, the ref refused to stop play and they got up and carried on as if nothing had happened. Time I think to make it mandatory to bring on the stretcher, make the player get on it and then play on with 10 men whilst he wait to get off and get back in the pitch, I bet that there will be many fewer "injuries" claimed if that happened
