iPad if you want need the flexibility of tablet specific apps.

Samsung Note 10.1 2 or Nexus 7 / 10 are cheaper and better value for money as long as she won't need the apps.

That's not to say there aren't Android tablet apps - just not as many optimised for tablets...yet.

It's also not to say the iPad isn't good either.
