petrol stations should shoulder some of the blame as well

sufficient clear eye catching signage stating that "drivers of vehicles in a state of combustion are urged not to drive into petrol stations" might have helped this unfortunate situation from occurring in the first instance. more proof that greedy petrol companies just do not care at all and are only interested in profit.
