I would get....

A Samsung TV, a Humax Youview box, and a pair of home-plugs.

You could even put movies, music, and photos on a USB memeory stick and plug it into the TV as the Samsungs will play a lot of different file formats.

As Pixelman says, you might even be able to get a free youview box from your broadband provider.
