1. genre of electronic dance music, began in south London
2. characterised by glitchy, two-step style beats
3. as usual, started off underground, then moved into mainstream
4. You know that WUB WUB WUB music you hear a lot at the moment - that's US-styled dubstep - brought to prominence by a guy called Skrillex. Lots of emphasis on HUGE WUBBY BASS and big drops (drops being the climax of a big build in the music, with a sudden change, like being hurled off the edge of a cliff)
